Having been on Deviant Art for some time under the user name kurisuUK, I have decided to set up a new account to keep things a bit tidier and more uniform with my website.

So far 2009 has been very productive. This first part of the year has seen a complete overhaul of my website and online store which has really helped things step up a gear. I am also in the process of adding more equipment to my set up.

This month I launched my child/baby portraits services on the website and so far have some really great shots to add to my portfolio.

The addition of Nikon's 24-70mm f2.8 zoom lens has taken my portrait work to a new level allowing me more compositional flexibility, not to mention the incredible sharpness that comes from using this lens. I purchased this lens with another use in mind too.... weddings!

I get asked a lot 'do you do weddings?'. I always answer 'not yet!' as this is something I am preparing for. It was always going to be difficult breaking into wedding photography, what with the deluge of established wedding photographers in East Sussex alone, add to that the current economic climate and I've got what could seem like an insurmountable task ahead of me. But 'tenacious' is a word that has been used to describe me so I'm going to give it a damn good go!

What for the year ahead? Well, I'm off to 'Costa Del Hampshire' for a camping holiday. Not quite as exotic as the Canary Islands, but it will give me a change of scenery (which I'm in serious need of) as well as a chance to capture some new landscapes and record the holiday in a reportage style (again, more practice for taking on a wedding).

After camping, I'll get straight back on the horse and just keep pushing on. I hope to go live with my framed art prints sales in April once I have settled on a supplier. Experimentation is also high on the agenda for this year, pushing the boundaries to see what I can achieve.
